This itinerary is the dream of many specialized guides in the Mayan zone. You will travel to the most significant places of Mayan interest in three countries: archaeological zones, some well known, others not; outstanding ecological   reserves, the last remaining wildlife sanctuaries; important   colonial towns and cities, living examples of the history; the beautiful beaches of the Caribbean sea, which served as a   vital commercial route for the Mayans.

The ideas for this itinerary where discussed in 1997 but the difficulties of communication by land delayed its creation. The amazing archaeological zone of Copan in Honduras was originally included but hurricane Mitch in 1998 meant that it  had to be temporarily excluded from the package. Now, thanks to the collaboration of the governments of Guatemala, Belize and Mexico, a highway has allowed this dream tour to become reality.
