Transfer
to the airport to take an early 45 minutes flight to Santa Elena,
in the heart of the department of ‘El Petén’.
From Santa Elena is about one hour drive to the World Famous and
UNESCO heritage of mankind archaeological site of Tikal. This place
has one of the most interesting histories amongst the capitals of
Mesoamerica; this history has been patiently unveiled by the work
of several epigraphists, archaeologists and different specialists
of Guatemala and the entire world. Its location inside the magnificent
Maya Reserve, its tall pyramids, its particular architectural style
are now some of the ingredients that make the visit of this site
a lifelong experience. In its heyday Tikal was one the biggest capitals in America and the eyes of the entire Maya Region were watching over the city. After the visit return to Santa Elena’s airport back to Guatemala City and transfer to the Hotel. |
